Virtual Sunday Religious Education and More

Amazing RE Plan During COVID-19!

Our goal is that we provide as much engagement for kids as possible during this time. We want to make sure kids are able to have some structured interaction with leaders and other kids in their lives, and we also want to make sure we give parents a much needed break (and help with providing interactive activities)!

So, here is a 4-fold plan:

  1. Until further notice, RE will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings through ZOOM.  The session will be 30 minutes. Parents can log their kid(s) on at https://zoom.us/j/598756798  Usually kids will be encouraged to do the assignment on their own and then email it (or a picture of it) to the me at  dre@mvuuc.org

  2. Big Kids Film Chat.  On Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. I will host a “Big Kids Film Chat” on zoom          at https://zoom.us/j/882385896?pwd=ZjhPc2JNbUhVd3B0YSs5T04xdzhQdz09  I will announce the video for the upcoming week each Sunday. This coming Tuesday’s discussion will be on the film “Kindness is Contagious.” All films will be available to stream on Amazon (some will be free through Prime). If cost is a barrier please contact me privately for solutions. NOTE: This is for Big Kids, defined as kids 8-12.

  3. Bedtime with the DRE . Monday through Thursday, 8:00 p.m. 15-30 minute story time for kids
    aged 3-8.  https://zoom.us/j/886305453

  4. PALS PROGRAM: I can match older adults and teens with young kids for a weekly, structured chat, tutoring session, storytime, art share, music lesson, etc. (NOTE: teens/older kids can be both a pal to a younger kid, or a get a pal in an older adult—just fill out the form twice). Here is how to register:  https://forms.gle/7nf2vjXeWmKAvhtRA

Please contact Sarah at  dre@mvuuc.org  with any questions, including tech questions (about Zoom, etc.

"Celebrations of Spring"

Megan Rancier, Noel McCluney, Lynn Israel

March 19th marked the vernal equinox, when the hours of sunlight are equal to the hours of nighttime - and the official beginning of spring. As human communities around the world look forward to lengthening days, they mark the arrival of spring in many different ways depending on their locations, cultures, and spiritual beliefs. At our service this Sunday, we will learn about some of the traditions around the world that recognize a common human experience of anticipating and celebrating spring. Although these traditions come from diverse places and peoples, they serve as a reminder of how closely connected we all are to the natural world and the cosmos beyond, part of the interdependent web of all existence that we strive to honor as UUs.

We will be streaming the service via  Facebook Live  this Sunday at 11 am.
