We strive to be a welcoming and growing spiritual community of religious liberals advancing acceptance, pursuing reason, nurturing love, furthering justice, and promoting peace.
BECOMING
A MEMBER
You can become an official member of the Maumee Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation (MVUUC) if you are 18 years of age or older by signing the Membership Book that goes back to our founding in 1986. This can occur in either a private ceremony with our current board president or in a public ceremony during one of our services. We then ask if you'd like to light the chalice on your next visit, and make the announcement to the congregation of our newest members.
BECOME A CHALICE LIGHTER
Are you willing to let your light shine? Would you like the opportunity to support Unitarian Universalism in a larger way that goes beyond the walls of MVUUC? In these times of cultural anxiety, we need to let our light shine to speak the message of liberal religion loudly and clearly. A very important way in which we let our light shine is by participating in the Ohio-Meadville District Chalice Lighters program. An OMD Chalice Lighter is an individual who pledges to respond with a $10 contribution when the call comes to help a congregation in our district. This is a program that helps us: MVUUC is part of a group of Northwest Ohio UU congregations applying for a grant for funds to increase awareness of the UU movement in Northwest Ohio.
