"Flower Communion"
Service Leaders: Lynn Israel
and Megan Rancier

Come experience the UU Flower Communion, a ritual service which was created by Norbert Capek, founder of the Unitarian Church in Czechoslovakia, and held in his church for the first time on June 4, 1923. Since his congregants came from diverse backgrounds - Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish – he saw a need for a unique ceremony that would unite them. Inspired by the beauty of nature, he created the Flower Communion, now a beloved annual service for many UU churches. You’ll learn more about the history and meaning of this beautiful ceremony and then participate in a Flower Communion by selecting a flower from one of many vases, and placing it into a common receptacle to create a stunning bouquet.
You don’t need to bring any flowers unless you feel compelled to do so. We will have plenty of beautiful flowers to use for the ceremony.
