In honor of the Hindu holiday, Diwali (October 29th), we spent the last two Sundays learning about this festive annual rite. In part one of our two-week lesson, the students learned the story behind Diwali. They made their own clay pots (some of which are pictured at left) to celebrate the return of Sita and Prince Rama and the triumph of light over dark (the Northern Indian version of the story). Last week, the students revisited the story by acting out the drama in a skit! We had a wonderful time.
