RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (RE)
Religious education at MVUUC strives to be an integrated religious community sharing a learning experience and spiritual journey together. We work to create a place where people of all ages can ask the important questions in a safe, caring, and fun atmosphere. We foster an understanding of each individual's role in this worldwide, liberal religious
community, where what we do is a reflection of what we believe. Our religious education program will help our young people to become adults who are loving and respectful of themselves and their UU community, as well as others and the Earth we share. The program will nurture the confidence that they can make a positive difference.
Programming begins with children entering preschool, and childcare is provided for babies and toddlers. Children from preschool through 6th grade participate in our Spirit Play Religious Education Classroom.
OUR WHOLE LIVES
Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a comprehensive sexuality education developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the United Church of Christ. Read more about the OWL classes that MVUUC offers children and families.
TAKING IT HOME
Each week, the RE Program publishes an electronic newsletter called Taking It Home, which describes the RE activities for the past Sunday and offers suggestions on how parents/guardians can extend those lessons at home. Announcements and resources are also shared in Taking It Home. If you would like to receive our weekly email, please contact the Director of Religious Education, Sarah Rainey-Smithback, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
